History Page My name is Liz Wright, i have owned and run Moortown Stud for the last 22 years. I grew up in an incredibly horsey background! My Grandfather Frank Shutler (pictured below) was a New Forest Agister between the two World wars, a much respected horse/pony breeder, NPS mountain and moorland judge and an amateur racing trainer/jockey winning many of the major races of his time.

My late mother Joan Wright (pictured below) was Chairman of the New Forest Pony and Cattle Breeding Society for nearly 30 years and was a top class breeder and international judge of native ponies. She spent her life alongside horses and ponies and for many years stood the area's HIS stallionsat her own Blashford Stud in Hampshire, she produced many eventers and showjumpers along with many famous "Randalls" New Forest ponies many of which have been exported throughout the world

My sister Gill Wright has been chairman of the New Forest Pony Society since 1994, is a renowned breeder of New Forest ponies and is also a top class international native pony judge. Her "Burley" New Forest ponies have also been exported throughout the world.
About me
1st show aged 3! Showing "Randalls Fire " Huntertrialling "Oscillator" Showing show hunter r foal "Moortown Sealords Quest"
Huntertrialling "Moortown Malibu Showing Knightwood Bryony Champ. Royal Show Driving "Moortown Primrose" I started to ride at 3 and have spent all my life around horses and ponies. As a child I hunted, ponyclubbed, showjumped, evented and showed ponies, in our house it was impossible not to! I followed the family tradition and bred New Forest ponies but had always really had a soft spot for coloured horses having had one as a fantastic kids pony. I started my stud in 86 and have stood several Thoroughbred stallions which i have put to coloured cob mares over the years producing many coloured sports/show horses, a few of which are shown on the front page of this site. In the early 90's I went to Poland and imported warmbloods and bred several top class show hunters. Coloureds have always been my first love and I now breed a selection of Traditional Cobs as well as the finer types. They are all carefully bred for conformation, movement, and above all temperament.
